CFA Society Nigeria and Zenith Bank pledge to expand 2018/19 CFA Institute Research Challenge

CFA Society Nigeria has pledged to increase the number of universities that will participate in the 2018/19 CFA Institute Research Challenge.

Speaking at the closing of the 2017/18 national final of the competition held at the Civic Center Lagos on 3rd February 2018, President of CFA Society Nigeria, Banji Fehintola, CFA said that the plan of the society for the next competition is to have at least twenty universities in the competition. He expressed a desire to also give an opportunity for universities in other West African countries such as Ghana, Gambia, Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Senegal and Cameroun to join their Nigerian counterparts in competing for the 2018/19 Research Challenge. According to him, these countries do not currently have local CFA societies and CFA Society Nigeria will be more than happy to bring them under its umbrella to give them the opportunity to participate in this prestigious global competition, until the time when they will have their local CFA societies. He expressed firm belief that by bringing other neighbouring countries into the next competition, the competition will become more competitive and it will also allow for the participants to interact and learn from students from other countries. More importantly, it will enable CFA Society Nigeria to positively impact the investment industry outside of Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the competition sponsor, Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc said the bank is fully supportive of CFA Society Nigeria’s plan to expand the 2018/19 competition and pledged the bank’s commitment to continue to work closely with CFA Society Nigeria to organize the competition. He reiterated Zenith Bank’s annual sponsorship of the competition as part of the bank’s commitment to developing the next generation of investment professionals.
